Graptolites

Straight sawblade-like graptolites (an extinct hemichordate) from the lower Devonian Sunday Canyon Formation, Inyo County, California, called scientifically Monograptus sp. The reddish-brown coloration of the graptolite rhabdosomes derives from preservation by the mineral limonite, a variety of hydrated iron oxide.
